Who we work with…

We draw on and support a number of tried and trusted suppliers who showcase some of the best available products of their type and who hold excellent credentials for responsible sourcing and are fully traceable.

For Beef, Lamb and Game - Dartmoor Beef and Lamb     Dartmoor beef comes from Luing cattle, a hardy Scottish breed, raised and kept free roaming on Dartmoor, a traditional farming practice now at risk. Richard Mortimer, the farmer, is well known to the market as a supplier with outstanding animal welfare and sustainability credentials. Richard boasts of his regenerative farming methods.

‘Naturally slow grown, beef and lamb grazed on Dartmoor. All our meat is ethically reared and slow grown, maturing naturally on Dartmoor. It’s hung to increase flavour and tenderness and cut by an artisan butcher; 100% traceable from our fields to your fork.’

For Pork - The Cornish Farmhouse Bacon Company

This is a family run business, using traditional methods to raise White Landrace pigs using home grown cereals. A Product of Cornwall Scheme member, and a Safe and Local Supplier Approval (SALSA) member.

‘Our factory is set on our family run farm, our Large white x Landrace Pigs are fed on home grown cereals, and only have to move a few hundred yards to the abattoir, meaning a saving in fuel and benefit to the environment, and keeping the stress for the pigs during transportation to a minimum. Where possible, pig manures are put back into the soil, reducing use of artificial fertiliser when growing our own crops, giving the soil a full circle of life and creating a natural, highly fertile cropping system. We are one of the few farmers in the country that actually breed and rear the pigs, and process to the final stage on the same farm, including curing, smoking, cooking and prepacking.’

For Poultry - Otter Valley Poultry

A collective of poultry farms with exceptionally strong organic credentials. They state that animal welfare, customer service and exceptional quality are the mainstay of their family business, producing the finest organic poultry in the entire country.

‘We are proud to offer our customers superb quality British poultry that is produced in the rolling, green Devon countryside. Each bird can be traced back to one of our experienced and caring farmers; this full traceability includes identifying the original farm which supplied the bird.

We feed our poultry on specially formulated, locally milled rations with no growth enhancers. This helps maintain optimum health and growth, resulting in succulent, fine-textured, full-flavoured meat you will be proud to serve up.’

For Eggs - Rushford Mill Farm, Chagford for Organic and Black Dog Eggs for Free Range (Freedom Food approved)

‘The hens eat wheat, soya and limestone with vitamins and minerals. Obviously when they go outside they scratch around to find other natural treats such as bugs, leaves and seeds.

All our food comes from a local mill in Crediton, they use local farms for the crops, including ours. We grow wheat on the farm and we send it to them to be included in our hen feed.’

For Marmalade - Proper Marmalade
